Top Hat

My life is oftentimes pointless
I am, I daresay, fine with that
But I sometimes wonder nonetheless
Whether I should don a top hat.

Make it circular and velvet black
To adorn my silver mane,
I've a feeling a hat's the knack
To relieve this life long bane.

Life, oh life, is but protons I know,
I have, oh yes, read the science books,
But still I dream of a neck-tie bow
And a hat, a black hat, to top off my looks.
