The moon is a cat in a top hat

Don't you know? The moon has a secret!
It'll tell you if you ask, it'll show you if you wait!
In your garden, maybe, deep at night,
Or in your bedroom: just switch off the light.
You'll see it in the sky, from your window;
Be friendly, talk gently, and look at it glow!

At last, when all is dark and none is watching,
The moon will sigh and gently start smiling.
First a mouth, curious eyes and a little nose;
Watch it now, how keenly it grows!
Pointy ears, fluffy whiskers and a short bow-tie:
The moon is ready now, say hello, don't be shy.

It might tell a story, yes it might sing a song;
What's for sure: it'll play all night long!
It'll run, it'll jump, it'll sneak in a cloud,
And as you watch it there, it will well laugh out loud.
It's playground is the sky with the stars and beyond,
It'll swim it's oceans just like crossing a pond!

As tiredness comes and you fall fast asleep,
The moon'll say "good night, may you dream of things sweet".
And when you wake up with the sun high and bright,
You'll remember for sure what you did see last night:
Not only is the moon, well kept secret, a cat;
It actually wears on it's head a top hat!
