Little spider climbs down the wall, silently, secretly, ready to pounce.
"What's that noise", they ask. Little spider smirks, and moves swiftly under the cupboard. “This will be my home”, thinks little spider, “and these will be my humans”. This is no common spider, indeed this is a shepherd spider: it raises and herds humans who generate the essential crumbs that feed the insects little spider loves eating.
One, two, three, four... Soon half a dozen humans are working for her, ensuring a constant supply of food for it's insects. “This is all very well”, thinks little spider, “but I want more!”. Oh yes, little spider is an ambitious spider, and with help from it's fellow shepherd spiders soon the whole building, and then the whole town is working for her.
Little spider smirks some more. “Funny thing”, it says, “they all believe they created their civilisation out of their own free will”.
